Lucas Vargas-Casera was born in Uruguay, South America. Though raised in the U.S., Lucas takes pride in his roots and feels his love for drums and rhythm started back home.

He graduated from Cleveland High School and has been creating indoor percussion shows and sound design for WGI Winds since 2019, contributing to the success of Eva Independent, which earned a gold medal in 2023 and a silver in 2024.

Lucas has served as the percussion director at West Johnston High School since 2017 and at Green Level High School in Cary, NC, since its opening in 2019. At both schools, Lucas works with talented teams of educators and students, fostering collaboration that has led to significant achievements, including BOA regional finalist placements at Green Level.

Known for his unique teaching approach, Lucas listens to and adapts to each student’s needs. His designs are fresh and innovative, always aiming to push the activity and his craft forward.

Outside of percussion, Lucas is a producer under the name LUX, collaborating with local artists in Raleigh, NC. When he’s not working on music, he enjoys playing disc golf and going on hikes.
